To use headphones with the PlayStation 4 controller, a special cable was developed called Elgato Chat Link. Learn more about using Elgato Chat Link here. Similar to the PlayStation 4, the Nintendo Switch will not output game sound over HDMI if headphones are plugged into the headphone port.

Unplug the headphones from the controller and the PlayStation 4 will output sound to the capture card. To solve this issue, A tool called Elgato Sound Captureis available. Elgato Sound Capturewill capture and split the PCs audio out over the HDMI output of the PC, and to a second output such as headphones.

Desktop PC with the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 Pro installed in available PCIe 2.0 or higher (x4/x8/x16) slot HDMI cables come in various lengths. The generally accepted max length of a HDMI cable capable of 1080p60 is 25 feet before signal degradation can occur. When using Cam Link 4Kor Game Capture HD60 S+in OBS Studio on macOS, the audio capture needs to be set manually. Audio is not captured from capture devices automatically like in OBS Studio for Windows. The PlayStation 4 will not output sound over HDMI if headphones are plugged into the PlayStation 4 controller.

Elgato Game Capture 4K60 Pro hardware can't capture Dolby, DTS or other multichannel digital audio formats. It can capture standard stereo audio. In this example, a M.2 SSD is installed and the PCIe x4 slot has been disabled due to motherboard restrictions. 4K60 Pro will not work in the x4 slot. It can still be used in the available x8 and x16 slot. Cables that are not properly connected to the source HDMI Output port or the capture card HDMI Input port could cause the capture card to not correctly acquire the signal. Disconnect the HDMI cables and reinsert them firmly. B.If you’re using an Elgato Game Capture HD60 or Elgato Game Capture HD60 S, the analog audio gain could be too low. See the [Analog Gain Control] section in this article for more information on how to correct for this.

Whencapturing a 120Hz signal, recording frame rate in the 4K Capture Utility will be 60fps. The 120Hz signal will be converted to 60fps during recording.

If your headset does not have a mix-amp or similar device with a audio output like a Stream Port, then the only way to capture this is through a wired headset using Elgato Chat Link. Xbox Series and Xbox One use the same menu system. The instructions below are the same for both consoles.

These drivers are designed for software that was released a few years ago. All current Elgato Gaming software is for Windows 10, so these drivers will not be useful to the vast majority of users. They are only useful to people that have decided not to update their software.

OBS Studio will capture audio from an Elgato Capture deviceautomatically when it is added to a scene. If audio is not captured as expected, try these steps: When you install Elgato Game Capture HD software for Windows 10/11 or Elgato 4K Capture Utility, the necessary drivers should automatically be installed. Both Game Capture HDand 4K Capture Utilitysoftware support analog audio capture from specific capture devices. The analog audio level can be changed in the software settings.
